A New Heritage

As Stellar Aluminium launches its new Heritage Casement, there’s now a Part L compliant window solution for projects that require authentic period aesthetics without compromising on market-leading performance. Jon Foulds, Key Account Manager at Stellar Aluminium, discusses the opportunities.

Despite the volatility in the market, there are undeniable growth areas that present opportunities for fabricators and installers. One of the most prominent trends is the demand for specialist products that recreate or restore heritage aesthetics.2 Research shows that companies that offer specialised, higher-value products have seen above average growth.1

At the same time, demand for aluminium products continues to rise, often driven by the same market forces that have fuelled the interest in heritage aesthetics. It remains true that nearly every period restoration project whether in aspirational magazines or direct media channels, will often feature elegant aluminium glazing that echoes Art Deco steel window styles.

For fabricators and installers, the challenge has often been finding a single aluminium system that combines the sought-after traditional aesthetics whilst complying with the thermal efficiency requirements of Part L of Building Regulations as standard. This challenge is exactly what Stellar Aluminium has solved with the launch of its new Heritage Casement.

The Stellar Aluminium Heritage Casement

The Stellar Aluminium Heritage Casement has been designed for projects requiring the aesthetics of traditional steel windows. Its elegant frames with their slim sightlines stunningly echo their original slender counterparts and opens up market opportunities for fabricators and installers.

Like all Stellar products the attention to detail is evident at every level, from the authenticity of its design to the product finish and manufacturing process. Unlike some system houses that outsource powder coating, Stellar Aluminium controls the entire process in-house within its Telford paint plant. This integrated approach eliminates the risk of overspray on the polyamide and ensures superior quality and consistency in every finish.

More importantly, the company stocks over 90% of the most in-demand colours—Grey, White, Black, Grey on White, and Black on White, all available within an industry-leading five-day lead time. Every Stellar profile is coated to the QUALICOAT Seaside specification as standard, ensuring superior durability. For those seeking bespoke options, Stellar Aluminium also provides custom colour finishes, including textured coatings, offering complete design flexibility.

The Stellar Heritage Casement is part of a complete whole-house aluminium window and door solution, joining an extensive range that includes the Stellar Casement, Flush Tilt and Turn Window, Flush Casement Window, Fully Flush Casement Window, Bay Window, Flush Residential Door, French Doors, Lift & Slide Door, Slimline Bifold Door and Inline Sliding Door. Stellar Aluminium's commitment to continuous product development and investment means another exciting addition to the range is coming this year too.

Crucially, every product in the Stellar range is compliant with the thermal efficiency requirements of Part L as standard without additional foam inserts. The Stellar Heritage Casement, for example, is Part L compliant with 28mm double glazing, can achieve Uvalues as low as 1.1 W/m²K and a WER to Band A++ with triple glazing. Intelligent and patented design elements future-proof the system for more stringent thermal efficiency requirements in the future too. Plus, security is reliably robust and achieves PAS 24: 2022 as standard.

One of the reasons Stellar Aluminium is rapidly developing a strong presence in the market is its ability to add value. A large part of this is the system’s benefits to the fabrication and installation processes. Stellar Aluminium is designed for fast and efficient fabrication, thanks to its pre-gasketed frame, sash and bead. This significantly reduces fabrication time and eliminates the need for additional manual labour to roll in gaskets, a common requirement in many other aluminium systems.

Installation is also quicker and easier with Stellar, as it was the first aluminium system on the market to feature knock-in glazing beads. These beads are faster to fit and create a cleaner, more precise gasket line, enhancing the overall finish.

In short, if you’re looking for an aluminium system that ticks all the boxes and helps you compete in the buoyant heritage sector of the market, Stellar Aluminium is the system you’ve been looking for.
